You might wonder why the provenance of your cheese should matter. Would a Roquefort by any other region taste as rich, creamy and sharp?
The origin of your cheese does not only tell you where it comes from, but also, how it was made. In many cases, region- specific cheese (like Parmigiano Reggiano) is made with time honoured methods of production that do not always apply when the cheese in manufactured in other regions.
Even though food innovation is growing rapidly, heritage and provenance continue to be very important if you are looking for authentic flavour. Our wide range of speciality cheese is sourced from the following regions around the world.
SOUTH AFRICA
The local cheese-making industry has grown considerably over the last decade, these days an award-winning South African cheese is not difficult to find.

THE NETHERLANDS
Cheese has been made in The Netherlands for centuries. Two of the most well-known Dutch cheeses are Gouda and Edam. One of the most iconic Dutch cheeses is Old Amsterdam, an extra matured Gouda.

Spain is known for its vast array of goat and ewe milk cheese. Perhaps the best known Spanish cheese is Manchego, a hard ewe milk cheese with unmistakable rich nutty notes. It is produced in the dry La Mancha region of Spain, south of Madrid.
GERMANY
German cheese making has been influenced by neighbouring Switzerland, particularly in the Alpine Bavarian region. Bavaria is one of Germany’s most important milk and cheese regions, where Montagnolo Affine is produced – which won The World Cheese Award in 2013 and is imported exclusively for Woolworths.
SWITZERLAND
Swiss cheese is famous throughout the world. Today, most Swiss cheeses are made in small dairies. We have curated a special selection of the best Swiss cheese, from nutty and spicy Appenzellar to sweet and fruity Emmentaler.
