Cooking Instructions
- Lightly salt the onion slices and massage gently. This will reduce the intense onion flavour. Set them aside while preparing your burger.
- Over medium heat coals (or a griddle pan over a medium heat on the stove), cook the burger patties for about 3 minutes or until a crust begins to form. Gently press down to give the patty more contact with the grill.
- Before turning the patty over, generously brush the uncooked side with some mustard. Flip and cook the patty for another 3 minutes. The mustard is the secret step to a delicious crust on the patty.
- Spoon the BBQ sauce onto the cooked side of the patty and add a slice of Emmental cheese. Allow the cheese to slowly melt.
- Heat the tomato & onion braai relish over a medium heat until just simmering.
- To assemble the burger, spoon some of the braai relish over the bottom half of your toasted bun followed by lettuce, gherkin slices and then the patty. Add a generous amount of salted onions before finishing with a drizzle of beefy mayonnaise,
- Serve this juicy burger immediately with a side of napkins.
