Chocolate speckled waffles
Ingredients
- 1 packet cinnarusks
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 2 free range eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups cake flour

Cooking Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Place the rusks in the oven proof dish side by side with the tops facing upwards so you see the bun pattern
- Cube the apple into bite size chunks
- Melt the butter in the pot
- Add a dash of ground cinnamon and fry
- Add the apple cubes and sauté until apple has caramelised a bit
- Remove the apple cubes and spoon into the any open grooves between the cinnarusk
- In the same pot place the milk and cream and bring to boil
- In the bowl whisk the eggs and sugar together
- Add ¼ milk and cream mixture to the bowl and mix well with the whisk
- Add the rest of milk and cream mixture
- Decant mix into a jug
- Pour half the mixture onto the rusks and allow to stand for 15 minutes
- Pour half of the remaining liquid mix and allow to stand for 5 minutes
- Pour the last of the remaining liquid and allow to stand for 5 minutes
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes at 180 degrees
- Allow to stand for 10 minutes and serve with custard/vanilla ice-cream
